Includes letter from Michael Farrell, Chief Constable, Head Police Office, Dublin, to The Magistrates, Head Police Office, Dublin, and to Henry Goulburn, Chief Secretary, outlining the case and stating that ‘altho’ he does not shew any disposition to do harm, the is evidently insane’, 29 January 1826. Also letter from the ‘Duke of Wharton’ to Farrell at Dublin Castle, urging him to take his advice and ‘impeach Latouche’ [La Touche]. Also letter from unknown sender, Richmond Lunatic Asylum, Dublin, to Goulburn, stating that there is a vacancy at the asylum for a male inmate and enclosing a blank admission form, 4 January 1827.
