Memorial of Arthur Sherry, care of Francis Sherry, 42 Upper English Street, Armagh, to Henry Goulburn, Chief Secretary, seeking his intervention in a dispute with his landlord, publican John Summerville, Barrack Street, relating to his refusal to issue him with a rent receipt, and his attempt to raise his current rate of rent at £5 with the introduction of the British currency. Claims Summerville is ‘an avaricious, “hard man”.’ Contains copy of affidavit dated 2 June 1827 signed before J Winder, testifying to the truth of his claim. Annotation on reverse giving legal opinion of Richard W Greene, suggesting that Sherry could withhold payment of rent until he is issued with the required receipt.
