Letter from Major George Warburton, Ennis, County Clare, chief police magistrate for County Clare, to Charles Grant, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle, reporting that one of the men involved in the unrest at Six Mile Bridge, County Clare, and who was shot by the police, has given himself up. States that the people are presently quiet as they are occupied with harvesting potato crops. Warns that Limerick city requires 'the utmost watchfulness', and makes suggestions for policing County Limerick. Also concerning boats put in place on the River Shannon to prevent spread of disturbances from County Limerick to Clare; and his previous request to obtain the brig HMS 'Plumper', for that purpose.

States that Hoye was employed in Warburton's police establishment, at the request of Corker Wright, and other magistrates of King's County [County Offaly], in order to protect Hoye, as he was a witness for the prosecution in the forthcoming trial concerning the murder of Hoye's brother in King's County.
