Letter from Maj Thomas D’Arcy, Inspector General [for Ulster], Holly Hill, Strabane, [County Tyrone], to Sir Henry Hardinge, [1st Viscount Hardinge, Chief Secretary, Dublin Castle], returning enclosed petition from James McCluskey, gardener, Ardress, County Armagh, to Hugh Percy, 3rd Duke Northumberland, [Lord Lieutenant of Ireland, Dublin], stating that magistrate John Hardy Esq colluded with a corp of infantry under Walter O’Donnell Clark Esq who nearly wounded McCluskey, seeking redress, and enclosing testimonials from his employer George Ensor, Ardress, and Roman Catholic [Rev] John Morton, Loughgall, [County Armagh]. D’Arcy also encloses minutes of his inquiry showing that the incident was trivial, with depositions from witnesses Denis Cassidy and Thomas [Mackin?], mentioning John [Martin], Thomas [Essy], Robert Lorry.
