Petition of Patt Magolrick of Gartacashel [? Gorticashel, County Tyrone], to Henry William Paget, Lord Lieutenant, requesting that he be granted bail having being confined in Cavan Jail. Noting that he has been arrested for having stabbed a man, also named Patt Magolrick, who attacked him at his home and adding that John Hassard, Bawnboy, Ballyconnell, [County Cavan] refused bail until a doctors certificate was produced stating that the man’s injuries were not life threatening. Also doctor’s certificate for ‘Patrick McGolrick’ signed by William Maxwell Wade, surgeon to the Swanlinbar Dispensary enclosed in covering letter from Hassard, to Paddy Magolrick, Cavan Jail. Includes legal opinion of Richard W Greene, stating that application must be made to the Court of King’s Bench. |
