Letter from John Irwin, magistrate, Fortland, [County Sligo], to Lieutenant Colonel Sir William Gosset, Under Secretary, reporting on the arrest of a man implicated in an attack and raid of a number of private dwellings in the district around Easky; observing the Ribbonmen travelled out of the region of Ardnaree and came chiefly in search of arms; alluding to an attack on the house of a man named Larinan, proprietor of a mail coach establishment, who shot and wounded a number of attackers; stating that Larinan has been given police protection and recommending his case to the care of government.
